Now that we can no longer drive out at the good surf spots down here, this is a nice alternative! Thx, Andy M at Wind-NC for coming up with this gig!
new blog post up featuring the hiker! as well as some action pics from yesterday at Ego.

PS: blowing like s#$@ down here right now and wrap surf hitting Ego Beach!! Oh yea, did I mention the water temp is 75 degrees! Forecast is to hold all weekend with building wrap surf too!! Who's coming down!?! Very Happy Very Happy

Nice Bill! I can't take credit for having "invented" that carry method, though. I think Casey Hauser showed that to me on a Maui trip a few years back.

What's with the harness line wrap around the mast? I usually just slide the mast and sail through the harness line and let it hang loosely.

Anyway, hope to see you out there this afternoon! The cams are looking really fun... quittin' time can't come soon enough!

Some how you need to get it so you put your arms through the harness lines like a backpack and carry the who thing board and all on your back. Laughing
Looks like hiking is going to be the future here on Cape Cod as well.

ya very cool.....I remember this vid of these guys in Cali walking like a mile upwind to some mysto break with the boards all vertical and backpack like....but it looked painful. I like the Hatteras hiker better

I have been working the bike trailer and getting the flat bottom skiff all ready

Good design. I also recall a short Windsurfing Magazine article showing some self-made full-kit backpacks:

For me ... I just grab the kid to help.

Here's my solution to hiking in boards and gear. Its a "Fish-n-Mate" converted to a "Surf-n-Mate". You can pull by hand or even behind a bicycle if you want. Carries multiple boards, sails, masts, and plenty of space below for harness, water or even a small icebox.

Wheels, cross tube board support assembly, and long pull handle quickly attach and detach thank to quick pins etc. for transport. I am currently ordering a set of those "Wheelez" soft sand wheels to make it easier to pull through deep sand too.

Cabello's Canoe carrier morphed into bike trailer.
Evans says qualifies for Kook of the Day, but geographically prepositioned with gear in the land of point breaks and limited vehicular access.

Got me into a fun sesh saturday
