As I see it, only two problems with the Toyota pickup. Security is a big issue, and one needs to load and unload equipment every time you hit the beach. Also, you must have a garage too to store everything. |

You could get an audi or diesel vw wagon. I personally like diesel pick up trucks. Check out the new dodge rams, they're great. i already have 53k on mine that I bought new 14 months ago and haven't had a single problem. I guess it depends on your budget and style but you can really make most vehicles windsurfing cars. |

Ah, yes ... the original unintended acceleration offender.
OTOH, notice that most cases of unintended acceleration happen to people who are OLD ... even by my standards. |

yes, i do trust that no one will steal all my $hit when im out sailing. yes i do unload it and keep all my stuff in the garage and use the truck for the rest of my life when im not sailing 2 or 3 times a week. will take about 5-10 minutes to load all stuff and leave. or i can park it fully loaded and still fit it in the garage.
no it has not driven me into a wall yet its been very dependable. (unlike my former 2007 Ford Ranger)
if the OP wants full security a bed capper would do the trick.
no doubt a van is the ultimate sailing vehicle but the pick up offers 4x4, a smooth ride, good economy, and versatility to commute to work, and tackle long distance drives in comfort, all without looking like a creeper when picking up your date i kid. i kid... _________________ Lavallette & Seaside NJ
