If Ford would throw a sippy little diesel in the transit connect van that would be perfect. I'd buy one in a heartbeat. I like the one that Arne who sails Waddell has with the big Quatro stickers!

I would buy one with any type engine if they could just shoe-horn AWD
into the thing. It would then be a perfect sports transport vehicle.

If you let me drive that once or twice, I'll carry your gear in my van.

Have not looked at the Ford Transit van for a year or so, they DID only have a short version, if you took out the passenger seat it would hold a longer board, if.

In speaking to owners it gets 24MPH, my Chrysler Town and Country gets 25.25 at Radar detector speeds

2010 Jetta Sportwagon TDI. easily fits a 237cmx63cm board on its side. Slides in between the front seats no problem. plenty of room for rigs up to 460cm mast, with booms and sails to match. 48-50mpg hwy, 33 city (with nothing on the roof). Standard xmission fun to drive. Reasonably priced.
Heated seats - very important.

Interesting; I guess the Jetta (and perhaps the V70) are a bit longer than the focus wagon inside. This kind of arrangement would never work in the focus - sails and boom bag are just a bit too long to fit in the back without angling. All angled with the board the other way, trying to lay it all flatish. And the masts invariably have to go along the passenger side, positioned carefully so they don't block passenger side mirror.

The nice thing about the transit connect is that there is a bunch of extra height above the driver and a sturdy shelf over the visors. You put the nose of the boards inside this shelf and build a rack across the back. This places the board overhead under the van's headliner. It probably works best with short fin boards. If Arne sees this maybe he can post a pick of his setup. My only concern with this is how the boards would behave in an a accident. But its probably better than having a lose board just lying over the passsenger seat.

the transit is sick! ^^^

what about a mid sized pickup truck? 4x4, good on gas w a v6. easy to commute with and haul gear.
fits securely 3 boards 95L-145L and a full quiver of sails
