Thought most guys just pinch up the channel upwind of Phantoms to sail Revelations when there's a swell with some NE winds. Really fun connecting your 6th thru 9th bottom turn off the lip combo right past the pack at Velzyland.
10 'yards would leave me in whitewater hell inside Sunset, the drift taking me to the biggest W peek where RickyGrigg would sit outside on his 11' yellow full gun board. |

I'm fine with 6.0 sized sails in waves, so no issue with larger wave gear. Bigger gear is getting better in waves nowdays, sure.
Like to be on 4.2 sails sometimes, and why not 3.7, too. Do I have to go to Maui for small gear windsurfing, or do Ohau get really windy days sometimes, too? |

I've been on my 3.9's at Kailua, and it was a November trip, because we had T day dinner to cut our windsurfing short.
Just don't expect it more than 10 days a year.
It's not Maui. Lots of 3.7 Maui days, you're dialed with a 5 meter sail at "yards on NE, or Moks on E winds. |

Not that this is a permanent situation but I have a kiter friend who spends winters in Kailua. He said this year has been the worst he's seen in years. |

That's interesting that Oahu was no good last winter. Maui had one of the best Decembers for tradewind I can remember. Other's have said most of the winter was better than most years. |

I too may have an opportunity to spend a year on Oahu. Any windsurfers with elementary school aged kids living on Oahu? What are the elementary schools like, and where are the better public (can't afford private) elementary schools on Oahu? |

Friends say it is private school (which I would NOT prefer personally)
or have your kids get beat up.
Even Laird got beat up in grade school,
go figure. |
