Seems to me the people who already have everything don't "need " more. |

Partially correct, the lifeline program was established under Reagan to help pay for PART of a landline phone bill to help people get a job and for emergencies.
Under Obama the program has been supersized, eligibility requirements slackened and expanded. Accusations of lots of fraud as so many people were getting free cell phones.
The purpose of the phone program under Reagan was to help poor people get a job or call in an emergency, it's clear that under Obama the programs intent is to buy votes and make people dependent on the government.
Are you going to try and tell me Reagan was buying votes from poor people and minorities by giving away free phones? |

That is pure unadulterated horseshit from a pure unadulterated Obama hater.
The program and the phones are paid by a fee assessed against the telecommunication providers, who may or may not pass that cost on to the individual subscribers. The money for the program and phones does not come from the government.
Do a little research.

Use a little common sense. You citing Brietbart is like a leftie citing MSNBC.
All lefties know in their hearts that Brietbart.com is a bunch of evil liars, and all righties know in their hearts that MSNBC is a bunch of evil liars.
"...but I believe the program has been changed..."
Source of that tidbit, please?
Read here.

I was trying to give you one, Republicans with their own free phone program, satellite phones at that.
Look claiming that Obama phones are paid for with a tax on landline and cell phones makes no difference, it's still a tax, I'm paying for those free phones with a tax!
And the program has recently gone over $2 billion in cost, that's tripled from a couple of years ago. Who's paying for that? We are with a tax! |

"...Republicans with their own free phone program, satellite phones at that..."
Citation or source, please? And this time, make it a credible source. Brietbart is lightyears from credible. How about a government Website?
I repeat: The so-called (by the rabid fruitcake righties) "Obamaphone" has nothing to do with Obama, started well before the Obama administration, and is not paid for by tax dollars. It is paid by a fee assessed to the carriers -- as was done many, many years before Obama.
Blaming the costs for this well-established program on Obama is nothing more than another attempt to smear him. It's just a version of Obama hate.
Blaming this program on Obama is complete horseshit, total nonsense.
And you know it.
But, then, that's your style. You and Mikey. And a few others.
________
From Factcheck:
"Q: Has the Obama administration started a program to use "taxpayer money" to give free cell phones to welfare recipients?
A: No. Low-income households have been eligible for discounted telephone service for more than a decade. But the program is funded by telecom companies, not by taxes, and the president has nothing to do with it."

I actually feel real good knowing that some of our elected officials did their job and voted with their brains and didn't fall for Obama parading the victims around trying for the sympathy vote. I feel good that ANOTHER useless law wasn't created that would have done nothing.
Let's look at. How many people are killed from cars? Have we outlawed cars? nope. How many deaths from people texting while driving? Have we taken cellphones away from everybody? How many killed from fertilizer bombs? Yet you can still buy the materials. Drugs are illegal yet how many buy them DAILY? I can go on and on. The end result NO LAW can prevent a crazy or pissed off person from doing something they really want to or from stopping somebody from getting something they want. You have heard of "supply and demand" right?
Interesting I was responding to boggsman's post but by the time I finished typing it was gone. So this post will make less sense... |

John...I am trying to excercise a little self control and not get involved. Clearly I am upset that the Senate did nothing. |
