You lose again on this argument. The death toll in this case is zero, as of right now.
Right after Newtown, there was a guy in China who went on a stabbing rampage in an elementary school, and this was held up by the paranoid wingnuts as an example of "See! he could have done it with rocks or big sticks. Guns don't make a difference"
Of course they do. The death toll in the China case was also zero. As the parent of a five year old, I can tell you that I'll take a cut and traumatized child over a dead one.
Actually, I wonder if you have any kids, Mike. If you did I'll be it would make a big difference in your outlook. |
Okay, you win, with your 2 examples, I would have to conclude that knives don't kill people.
Life must have been totally safe and peaceful before gun powder was invented.
Who looses the argument again? |

I must continue to remind the forum that bats and clubs kill more people than all rifles combined. However the idiots in Ct. have only made it difficult to obtain long rifles. Handguns kill 20x more people than rifles. America is fooled again. |

No, he doesn't, he said. And that says it all. _________________ Support Your Sport. Join US Windsurfing!

So, if I understand correctly, folks without children lack the ability to feel empathy when children are killed? Get real guys. Some of us did not have children because we chose to participate and caretake in society in different ways. |

@NW30:
My point is that guns have a especially high lethality rate. It's actually pretty hard to kill someone in other ways, certainly in groups. The fact that this country is awash in guns has a direct correlation to the mass killings that have now become a regular occurrence. There's really no way around it.
@coboardhead:
I wasn't trying to pass judgement on people without kids. But, i had my son at age 50, and I can tell you that it's a real eye opener. Imagining those little kids in Connecticut being slaughtered affects you in new ways. The strength of the emotional bond with a child is so visceral that the idea of losing one is beyond contemplation. The intense reaction of so many in this country to Newtown is largly because of this.
I don't have any opinion on other people having kids or not, but I do wonder if it might have helped soften up Mikey's icy heart. |

The middle case knives are graceful works of art. Are they switchblades? |

Many knives with springs are not switchblades and about half of states ban fully automatic versions, which open at the press of the button. |
