Not a word about the >2,000 drug cartel members, drug smugglers, police assailants, killers, child molesters, etc., all convicted in court as felons and declared in writing by law and ICE rules as dangerous to the public and/or the country ... simply let go by ICE before sequestration even occurred. Not "tracked", as Jay Carney stated; simply released, with zero notice until after the fact. Sources: leaked ICE memos trying to hide these facts, the House Judiciary Committee, and the state and local police jurisdictions responsible for their detention.

"Pure BSNBC nonsense, slinky ... not even worthy of debate."

Ever so crafty, isobars tosses a rude taunt to get things started. Cleverly fishing for a situation where he might be able to make a scene and ultimately carve another notch on his computer. The killfile must grow.

Among many others.

Anybody else ever notice how 90% Of mac's sources are from the bay area media, the bastion of liberal thought?

And you bash sources like crazy, specially if you think it came from the Drudge Report, eventhough he rairly writes his own stuff. His news posts are from all over the world and the country.

Maybe you should get out more, someplace beyond the bay area. You are surrounded by like-minded people, no wonder you're locked into your bay area blinders.
There's a much bigger world out there.

We have a strange type of socialism here in the good old USA. Both political parties advocate "socialism" for huge corporations. Socialist countries such as Sweden do not bail out Corporations! What we have here is socialism for the wealthiest 1% of the population who control over 50% of the nations wealth. Get a clue guys! These same people who have benefitted from these bailouts are fighting tooth and nail to destroy social programs for everyone else. Why? Because they can't get their hands on this money. They don't want more, more is never enough, they want everything.

Slinky, I think it is worth mentioning that these corporations are significantly owned by both public and private pension plans. I think it is also worth mentioning that several of the largest tax break programs are aimed directly at the middle class...Interest deductions for mortgages, deductibility of health care insurance and retirement plan contributions.

That said, I do believe we need to seriously take a look at unearned income that is subject to less tax than earned income. We do seem to be sheltering the investment class in this country.

Drudge selects stories which pander to extremists without any thought to their content. I pursued some of the sources while wasting time showing respect for Iso.
Try reading the source sites NW. Get a clothespin to put on your nose.
Drudge clearly has a very low opinion of his readers.

I think that while I am a conservative, I wanted the big banks to fail and go through a structured bankruptcy. Same with GM and AIG. We have become a socialist nation with many twists. One of the more frightening twists is that the Fed is buying 53% of our governments long term paper. This will eventually become a tax on the lower and middle classes. They now call the Dow The MaoJones on CNBC.

NW30, would it surprise you that the linked article that mac posted was from the New Orleans Progressive Examiner? No matter really, all liberal rags are the same.

Let me go back and challenge Bard and NW to provide a substantive answer. The John Birch Society was co-sponsor of the Conservative Political Action Committee’s annual meeting in 2010. My source for that is a senior editor at Newsweek. The father of the Koch's was one of the founders, and the sons don't fall far from the tree:

Quote:
Billionaire brothers David and Charles Koch have been dominant financiers for conservative front groups and nonprofits for nearly three decades. Their money has flowed to organizations dedicated to lobbying for corporate and upper income tax cuts, as well as to groups responsible for mobilizing Tea Party rallies against President Obama. But the Koch family’s association with fringe right-wing groups began a generation earlier with Fred Koch, the patriarch of the clan.

Fred not only founded the company now known as Koch Industries, he also was a founding member of the John Birch Society. As a founding board member, Fred helped engineer a hysterical wave of attacks on labor, intellectuals, public education, liberal clergy members, and other pillars of society he viewed as a threat. Birchers decried everyone from former President Eisenhower to water utility administrators as pawns in a global communist conspiracy. In the last two years, as the Koch name has become synonymous with right-wing plutocracy in the United States, the Koch family has played down its relation to the Birchers.

However, the New American, the official mouthpiece of the John Birch Society, published a piece this morning celebrating Fred and the Koch family’s pivotal role in developing the group:

Koch warned that American institutions were honeycombed with communist subversives, from labor unions and tax-free foundations to universities and churches. Art and newsprint, radio and television — all these media had been transmuted into vehicles of communist propaganda. [...] Fred Koch was no fly-by-night pamphleteer. He spent a generous portion of his later years using his wealth and influence to fight the communism he abhorred. He was an early member of the The John Birch Society’s National Council, an advisory group to JBS founder Robert Welch. Koch supported a variety of freedom-related causes, all the while continuing to build the company today known as Koch Industries.

The Bircher ode to Koch glosses over Fred’s record of bigotry. In a booklet he authored, Fred railed against civil rights leaders, and claimed the movement against racial segregation was a communist plot to use African Americans to destabilize the country. The Koch-funded Birchers held numerous rallies during the ’60s claiming integration would lead to a “mongrelization” of the races.

I will talk trash when the self-brainwashed, who don't read much outside the Drudge report, make no substantive argument that the John Birch Society has re-emerged in the Tea Party and the role of the Koch's in particular. You are entitled to your own opinion--not your own facts.

Many economists agree, simply because of the evidence they submit that bailouts simply pass the problems forward, that natural selection and total restructuring are the only valid solution.

If investment (i.e., risky) returns were taxed at the same rates as earned incomes, who would ever invest (i.e., gamble)? If I work 40 hours, I get paid for it. I'd be a fool to invest in -- gamble on -- even a Blue Chip corporation if any profit is going to be as heavily taxed as a paycheck. Smart people expect, demand, and deserve an extra incentive for gambling by funding industry.
