Congressman Offers Amendment Defunding Obama’s Golf
by Keith Koffler on March 6, 2013, 8:01 am

Rep. Louis Gohmert (R-Texas) introduced an amendment to the fast-moving continuing resolution spending bill that would bar funding for President Obama’s golf outings until the White House reopens for public tours.
Gohmert, who announced his amendment from the floor of the House, said Americans, whether Republicans or Democrats, will be greatly disappointed to come to Washington and not be able to get their tours of the White House. Many tours are planned well in advance.
The amendment states:
None of the funds made available by a division of this act may be used to transport the president to or from a golf course until public tours of the White House resume.
Gohmert cited an estimate by Sen. Jeff Sessions, the ranking Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, that 341 federal employees could have avoided being furloughed had Obama not traveled to Florida for a three-day golf extravaganza.
“Perhaps, quitting furloughing all these federal employees, we’ll be able to get the Democrats and Republicans across America (and) people that don’t even have a Party because they’re just Americans – they’ll be able to get their tour of the White House and all it will cost is one or two golf trips less,” Gohmert said.
The amendment is unlikely to become law anytime soon, though because Republicans are moving the continuing resolution – which will fund the government at current levels through the rest of the fiscal year – without amendments. The “CR” is likely to come to a vote in the House today.

Our current president is enacting policies that are intentionally trying to inflict pain and inconvenience on his people, by trying to prove his sequester claims of pain.
Politics over the protection of his people, a first.
Never have I seen something like this before.
BTW, his popularity is starting to tank, see the polls.

Why would anyone want to tour that Kabuki theater anyway?

Leave it to a Republican from Texas to come up with a childish idea that is absolutely ridiculous.

NW ...thanks for the post, its consistent with your mindless rants. Louie Gommert is the same idiot who wants armed teachers. Its funny that you are reading stupid articles on Drudge, and I'm surfing the lip of the 14300 DOW.
BTW- NW, Bard....your boy Rand Paul is trying to leapfrog Rubio/Jeb/Christie by filibustering Brennan for CIA.

I love it Boggs. Rand Paul and Ted Cruz standing on principle that they don't want U.S. citizens killed in drone strikes on U.S. soil and the libs are up in arms. Didn't liberals once think that this was unthinkable? Meanwhile Holder says it's leagal.

“I’m here to filibuster John Brennan’s nomination to be director of CIA,” Paul said on the Senate floor Wednesday as he began a long afternoon of speaking. “I will speak for as long as it takes.

“I will speak today until the president says 'no,' he will not kill you at a café.”

BTW a Democrat Senator has now joined him...

I disagree with Obama on drone strikes, both on legality and tactical downside. But I can't suspend disbelief enough to believe Rand Paul about anything. If he actually stands and filibusters he will earn some grudging respect.

Love it, Paul is eating peanuts and admonishing the continued neverending wars. "We end this war, where are we going next"? Don't you love the filibuster?

On the flip side, what's the difference between cops shooting at Christopher Donner and Obama shooting a drone at him? Officer safety.

Did it ever dawn on you that Obama is reading your posts and has an armed drone hovering over your home? On your way to the shooting range with your S & W 40 in hand, and boom, you're toast. After all you were a threat...

I just read that Mr. Paul senior, the gold bug, has 66% of his portfolio in gold company stocks which have tanked. The analysis puts him down 24% in a stock market that just set a new high.
