Just checked out some Sandy damaged spots .....Laurel Blvd is in good shape....Trixies is still closed, gates locked. Beach and parking look OK. Seaside Park at the old marina is open and looks to be OK. The fishing pear in Seaside is in the bay and the lot is closed. Sandy Hook is also still closed Sad but word is it will open by Memorial Day. Now we just need some spring weather..enough with the snow storms!

Thanks for the update.

I drove down to Lavallette (Jacobsen Park) a few weeks ago and it was open. There were construction trucks in the lot, but the launch area looked clear.

Still my biggest concern is all the debris in the bay.

Good to hear that acess to these spots is open - thanks for taking a look around and posting. I hear that the surrounding salt marshes are loaded with debris - some of this can float back out into open waters during extreme high tide cycles and storms like the northeaster were having.

Read on-line that the southern end of Sandy Hook up through parkig lot B will be open to the public starting May 1. Parking lot B is the lot where most kiters park and launch into the bay so its possible to park here, rig and then walk a little up the shoreline of the bay to launch for a northwesterly wind. I was out at the Hook a few weeks back near the kiters launch for a beach cleanup and things actually looked really good in this area - ocean side looked really good too. Clean up and restoration crews have done a killer job. Further north on the Hook is scheduled for Memorial Day. See you on the water soon.
