Whatever one may think of the direction that he is taking us, it is clear President Obama has taken the reins and is leading the American people while the GOP is trailing behind complaining that he is leading the USA in the wrong direction.
Health care ,spending cuts, the GOP is focused on saying he is entirely in charge such that anything that goes wrong is completely his fault as leader.
Can't have it both ways guys, the American people aren't quite that easy to fool.
Except those who listen to Talk Radio of course.

Looking at isobars' last two posts, it's hard believe that he's anywhere close to being reasonably informed and knowledgeable about the issues that he's talking about. I guess that's attributable to where he gets his news and information.

The idea that lower corporate taxes is the important bearing behind offshore manufacturing, to also include a vast array of service related industries, isn't even close to reality. Corporate taxes come in way behind far lower wage, benefit costs and the lack of stringent regulations as the primary reasons to move business and manufacturing to emerging economies in other parts of the world.

Regarding and expansion of pre-school education to address the needs of younger children, I would think that most middle and lower class families are eagerly welcoming the idea. For quite some time now, arguably since the 70s, it has become increasingly more of a requirement that both parents work to pay the bills and potentially succeed in today's economy. For single parents, the situation is even more difficult and complex. I'm quite sure that most American families welcome President Obama's goal to give children a better chance to succeed through early education opportunities, but also to provide a dependable and structured form of child care services. To dwell on the idea that the government is forcefully removing children from the home and family is simply cooked-up nonsense dished up for fools.

BOB WOODWARD:
Obama Is Showing 'A Kind Of Madness I Haven't Seen In A Long Time'
Brett LoGiurato | Feb. 27, 2013, 9:23 AM

The Washington Post's Bob Woodward ripped into President Barack Obama on "Morning Joe" today, saying he's exhibiting a "kind of madness I haven't seen in a long time" for a decision not to deploy an aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf because of budget concerns.

"Can you imagine Ronald Reagan sitting there and saying, 'Oh, by the way, I can't do this because of some budget document?'" Woodward said.

"Or George W. Bush saying, 'You know, I'm not going to invade Iraq because I can't get the aircraft carriers I need?'" Or even Bill Clinton saying, 'You know, I'm not going to attack Saddam Hussein's intelligence headquarters,' ... because of some budget document?"

The Defense Department said in early February that it would not deploy the U.S.S. Harry Truman to the Persian Gulf, citing budget concerns relating to the looming cuts known as the sequester.

"Under the Constitution, the President is commander-in-chief and employs the force. And so we now have the President going out because of this piece of paper and this agreement. 'I can’t do what I need to do to protect the country,'" Woodward said.

"That’s a kind of madness that I haven't seen in a long time," he said.

Woodward's harsh criticism came after he stirred controversy last weekend by calling out Obama for what he said was "moving the goal posts" on the sequester by requesting that revenue be part of a deal to avert it.

NW..we all have access to the internet, and although I'm really quite impressed with your ability to copy and paste, I'd rather view a few paragraphs of your own opinions than a news story I read a couple of hours ago.

Every person on here knows (or should) how to balance their budget. Corporations do a pretty good job of balancing their budgets too. That was why I wanted Romney for president. Now that Obama is "trying" to do it I realize I would be a hypocrite to wring my fingers. I realize there is political posturing involved and I'd also like to see cuts in many other areas, but cut we must.

I would if I had anything to add to his contention, but I happen to agree with him 100%.
And, having access doesn't mean that everyone viewing the internet, will read this when they are stuck on their favorite porn sites.

I guess you have nothing to say about the article I posted, fine, I won't bug you about it.

But you drank the kool aid. Or maybe it was the fool aid. There is nothing in your post except sword rattling. No cogent analysis of how an aircraft carrier will make a difference in which Middle East hot spot.

I also disagree with Obama's strategy of adding revenue enhancement to the sequestration debate. It has nothing to do with an aircraft carrier--and you cannot point to any progress that the Republicans have made in suggesting a series of smarter budget cuts to replace the sequestration. But according to you guys, it is all Obama's fault. Not so.

capetonian, you bring up an interesting point about managing budgets, and how smart cuts need to fit in to keep things efficient. However, one of the things that conservatives today tend to leave out is new spending on investment. President Obama keeps bringing up the need to invest for the future, but Republicans can't seem to see beyond cutting spending. When it comes down to it, you really can't cut your way to prosperity.

I'm all for investing in the future. Though my fear is if we don't rearrange our budget by taking from some areas to invest in others, we'll never be able to pay for that investment. If that rearrangement of the budget also includes cuts in areas that I don't particularly want cut, such as defense, then so be it in the spirit of making the future possible.
