Lake Isabella Frostbite Sailors
aka The Frizzies
Statutes
Member Definition
A member of the Exalted Brotherhood of the Frizzies is a windsurfer who ventures forth from the comfort of his heated home, to windsurf on Lake Isabella, when persons of a more sane bent would not.
whereas
it is covenanted and decreed that
1. "a sail" is defined as having rigged and sailed a minimum of 100 ft from shore between October 1 and March 31, when the air temperature was below 65 degrees.
2. those intrepid sailors fulfilling the requirements as delineated in No 1 above, shall be awarded one FRIZZ point per occurrence.
3. FRIZZ levels:
One (1) sail per winter season shall be awarded the Order of Junior FRIZZ.
Five (5) sails per winter season shall be awarded the Order of Senior FRIZZ with Special Commendation.
Whosoever turns out to have accumulated the most sails during a particular winter season, shall be awarded the Order of Grand FRIZZ, and be given bragging rights and great reverence for the entire summer following such elevation. Sweeping of the Grand FRIZZ's rigging tarp would be an appropriate expression of said reverence.
It is further agreed that local sailors (those living less than 5 miles from the launch site) are acknowledged to have an unfair advantage due to the proximity of comfort stations, i.e. heated homes, and are therefore required to sail twice the number of times for a given FRIZZ level as their foreign brethren as enumerated above.
4. FRIZZ awards:
All Frizz levels earn the right to proudly display the official seal of the FRIZZIES - see addendum A
Junior Frizzes display their official seals unadorned.
Senior Frizzes are entitled to display a silver star upon their official seals.
The Grand Frizz is entitled to display a gold star with sparkles upon his/her official seal.
Proclaimed this day, the 24th day of February of the year 2013, by Eva, Secretary pro tem of the Frizzies

Meanwhile, at Bodega, water temperature frequently exceeds air temperature, and the air temperature might be 48-54F.

Chris: our water currently is a nippy 47 degrees. One does sail conservatively, and in short sessions....
PS: for info on local conditions, you can check http://www.facebook.com/groups/294638607227135/ which I update regularly
