From a PB session last night. Gear froze solid as soon as I got out of the water.

Kudos to you. Did the same, many years back during the 1993 Storm of the "LAST" Century. Kicker was that it was during the snowstorm. Sailed Pleasure Bay in Boston during the storm and Dorchester Bay the day after. Was pretty cool....

Next time remember to bring a couple of gallons on windshield washer fluid to deice equipment.

WOW Surprised

I haven't sailed with ice on my gear since my late 20's. I get cold just thinking about it. Good on ya!

What was it blowing? Did you fall in at all? Awesome that you got out!

My only experience was one time sailing with a few flakes in the air--I'm sure not as cold as you had this week. Still, I got so cold that I struggled afterward to drive home...I realized later that it felt like being drunk. Like loopy cold. It scared me enough to not push it with the cold anymore. You're tough to be able to handle that weather.

Actually, I just put in my 6th straight day of cross-country here in Falmouth. Three of them were with my new skating skis. I had to strip down to my tights and turtleneck for at least two of those sessions. The days have been warm and sunny. We have excellent snow. While the snow was still falling, I was out in snowshoes during Nemo. I see nothing attractive about using windsurfing gear in a Blizzard and still think there are some rather demented people putting up posts and threads with pictures and videos on this URL.

It's OK JE

Not much else to do in the dead of winter.

BTW, has anyone been to CG lately? Last weeks strorm unearthed some very old tree truncks right in the path way. There's also a layer of esposed peat that is slicker than grease.

Let's pray that 2 weeks from now this winter will be in our rear view mirror.
