Who is the official organization for this event?
I know last year WISSA had the worlds under thier organization, but it seems to me there needs to be some kind of official US organization representing this effort to make claim of the event's namesake.
Please explain and make clear the logistics for your political race claim.
Otherwise the majority of New England ICE sailors could just as well call an event 'US ICE Sailing Champs' with our own local turnout. Many of us were part of the former Freeskate Association which was quite popular during the 80-90's.
Our New England iceboard group will be focused primarily on speed sailing and posting results to GPS Icesailing. However, we may run a few figure 8 slalom courses if there is enough interest. We will travel abroad throughout New England region to seek and sail on clear quality ice that is worthy of our unique sport.
This reply may come accross to you or others as harsh, and I appologise for being so blunt. After 30 dedicated years of competitive activity, you must understand.
I do however wish your event success and all the best. |

It's great that they are getting together in Michigan, it doesn't matter to me what they call themselves. |

Jeff, is Will T involved on either side of this event? Does he know? _________________ Support Your Sport. Join US Windsurfing!

I am sure Will knows and is going to be there.
But I need to express these event planners without representation.
Traditional sailing events of this caliber require a group organization of members, not just a PR person who makes the claim to hold the event.
If its a WISSA "chapter" or other group organization, then fine, but I have just never heard of one yet in North America since the colapse of the National Freeskate Association, whom I was commodore of. We had claim to the "North American Open" iceboard event and ran at least 100 course races, besides the One Design Freeskate class.
I am thrilled that racing has returned, but a bit confused by its claim. |

I wish that Michigan Windsurfing could cover this event, but MI Windsurfing will be in St. Lucia that week, where I'm hoping the only ice will be in a drink.
Maybe next year.
