Round and round we go, with those on the right always desperately trying to cast a dark shadow on President Obama. Well you guys lost the presidential election, and the next one is a long long way off. The continual gnawing on old bones isn't going to get you very far, but I guess you've got to keep the hate and distrust alive.

Better hope that the Republicans can get their act together and start cooperating for the good of America, or else they'll fall farther into the abyss of ineptitude. The inane whining about the President Obama and the Democrats in Congress can no longer be considered a viable path, and repeated obstruction just won't work to win over the American public. The last election proved that.

In Obama's 5.5 minute speech on 9/12, at about 4:20 through the speech, he said "no act of terror will ever shake the resolve of this nation". That's his only reference to terror and he could be implying that the 9/11 attack was "a terrorist attack", but that's not what he said. Also in the printed transcript, there is no mention of terror, but it's an abbreviated statement.

Also no mention of the video or any reference to a cause for the attack.

These guys all know that, and that Rice was sent out by the administration to lie to the public. It's been on 10 networks, 500 newspapers, 1,000 local TV news shows, and right here literally thousands of times, collectively. They just don't care.

Chandler is correct. The die has been cast. All we can do is prepare for the consequences.

As Joe Friday would say, "Just the facts ma'am".

What a breath of fresh air that would have been.

Lifted from the predictions thread, and put in it's proper place~

Mac: "I will note that the latest Obama attacker, NW, seems strangely silent about the news this morning on Benghazi, where a panel with respected Republicans, not rushing to judgement, notes that the changes in talking points were made by the Security agencies (FBI and CIA), not by either the White House or the Department of State. Rather than confess to mild embarassment for their paranoia, they stay silent when their paranoia is outed. So consider the source."

All I want to know is who pushed the video?
Whoever did that is guilty of blatantly trying to mislead the public as to the reason for the second 911 attack. Everything else that has been said about Benghazi is obvious, but doesn't adequately address the cover up.
I don't care about "sloppy", we already know that.

from the report:
Quote:
Finding 9: Although the September 11, 2012 attack in Benghazi was recognized as a terrorist attack by the Intelligence Community and personnel at the Department of State from the beginning, Administration officials were inconsistent in stating publicly that the deaths in Benghazi were the result of a terrorist attack.

Finding 10: As discussed earlier, the talking points about the September 11th attack in Benghazi which were issued by the Intelligence Community on September 14th in response to a request by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, were the subject of much of the confusion and division in the discussion of the attack. That confusion and division were intensified by the fact that the talking points were issued before the IC had a high degree of confidence about what happened in Benghazi and in the midst of a national political campaign.

There seems to be an inconsistency between these two points -

Finding 9: "recognized as a terrorist attack from the beginning"
Finding 10: "talking points, confusion, division, before a high degree of confidence, etc"

What a great job of clearing up the issue.

Techno--I think the answer, not buried in too much gobbledygook, is that there was a CIA operation in Libya. The news reports that I read noted that the talking points used by Rice in her briefing were altered by the CIA and the FBI, presumably to protect on the ground assets that aren't Americans. Perhaps they all have cell phones and were quickly informed, perhaps not, but the stink of secrecy and a CIA operation gone bad are all over this incident.

There is much to be critical of in the conception and implementation of post-revolt American involvement in Libya. It is clear that the presence of Americans was resented, despite a very general level of popular support for American help in deposing Gadaffi. I found the comments of the security staff, which I posted here, the most compelling--they really hadn't anticipated this level of violence in a country where the fight to depose Gadaffi was over. It is also clear that the additional security forces he had requested, and didn't get through the Department of State stovepipe for funding, wouldn't have prevented the assault or allowed a substantially different outcome. It is also apparent that communication between State and CIA/FBI is less than ideal, despite the putative reforms in creating the TSA.

What doesn't hold up, however, is the line of attacks used by Issa and repeated here by Obama haters. What Obama and Rice may have said about how much of a terrorist or Al Queda involvement is of no consequence. There is substantial question whether or not the Obama approach to terrorism, which is the Bush approach to terrorism with better administrators, is being effective in the long term. But to lump that as an election time attack on Obama, as not tough enough on terrorism or whatever the GOP leakers had in mind, was just silly. Bad things happen, and the reasons are sometimes only clear in hindsight.

Mac, speaking of hindsight...aren't we glad we didn't elect Thurston Howell III to be our president? His presumptive SOS, John Bolton remarked that Hillary "faked" her concussion to avoid providing testimony on Benghazi, certainly something she will eventually do. I wonder if her "fake" concussion is related to her "fake" blood clot?
I've also heard that Karl Rove hasn't conceded Ohio yet. The Republican Entertainment Complex has fleeced its audience.
