Would lile to get some feedback from people rigging their Hot Sails Hot Rods on their Neil Pryde sails. According to Jeff Henderson at Hot Sails, their Hot Rods are a good fit for Neil Pryde sails.
I have the Atlas 5.4 and am looking for a mast to go with it. Unifiber can ship me their flextop 400 (100%) for $600, which is expensive. Hot Rods are less money.
I have no idea what the bend characteristics are for Neil Pryde masts, but here's two flextops alternatives.
Here's some numbers on both masts:

Hi Nodak,
I have a 400cm Hot Rod 97% that I am selling. It has been used around 5 times and is in perfect shape.-$350.
I have switched to the Qu4d sails, so I will be using a 370cm for my 5.2 Qu4d and don't need a 400cm any more.
I'm in Santa Cruz, CA.
Thanks,
Lindsey

the Peterman site figures for NP are all over the range, until you get to the larger 490 and above size.
Unifiber s chart is rather vague and misleading on several sails, as HSM not being able to accept a SDM mast.
NP seem to be in a world of its own on mast bend curve, but OTOH have seen good results from other than NP, good luck with that.
Jeff Henderson is really straight in recommendations, the Hot Rods are constant curve flex top but at the upper range/side almost flex top.
of the choices proposed the Hot Rod would certainly be my pick _________________ K4 fins

neil pryde x-combat works great on Hot sails so vice-versa should be good, maybe just a little tighter in the leech than the pryde mast. all of the NP sails feel better with an extra 1cm of downhaul anyway, and this mast might give the atlas( as a power sail )just a little more low end. |
