Need a 74.5" batten for a 2008 Gaastra Matrix 8.0. I have emailed Gaastra twice and have gotten no reply. Anyone know of a good Gaastra dealer that might be able to help?

Thanks

PritchardWindsurfing should help, Matt and Kev. But they're in Maui, and the cost of sending you one batten might be prohibitive.
I've had success with taping splints, 6" long, on either side of the broken joint, and taping a taper on the leading end, stuffing it back into the batten pocket for a whole lot less money than the shipping cost, if you don't have an old sail to rob batten parts off of.

I'd recommend contacting Sailworks in Hood River, OR. The have a full capacity sail repair facility at their shop that covers all different sailbrands, so I'm thinking that they might be able to help replacing your batten. I've had a number of sails repaired by them over the years, and they do a great job at fair prices.

Thanks for the replys. I have been tirelessly searching the net , then I had the brilliant idea of Googling Gaastra batten. Looks like Windance has them. I'll probably give the Sailworks folks a call as well.

+1

They helped me in the past with a brand different from theirs. Cost about $15 at that time.

Great! Very Happy

BTW, did you get all the parts of the broken batten out?

Yes, the broken batten pulled right out. It wasn't completely broken in two, so it pulled out in one piece. Next time I land on the sail I'm going to do my best to miss the batten.
