The "conservative entertainment network" has created an imaginary world of ideas and opinions that liberals hold which has little connection to actual human beings.
One of my conservative friends sat down to prove that world exists in a long research session together in which he left out Fox news msnbc drudge, etc. and focused on fact checking sites and actual statements by libs. After a few hours he finally blew up saying "there has to be something somewhere that supports the BS I have believed for all this time" and stormed out. He was visibly shaken by the experience.
I spoke to him recently about it. He doesnt know what to believe but is very angry at the Drudge report and Limbaugh.

K.C. I note you have experience of other countries, and their different ways of life, and you realise how adrift from reality people who, from the safety of prosperity, take it upon themselves to lecture the world on how to think and act, really are.

A shame such peoples view of life is shaped by media propaganda, or expert internet analysis as they would have it, and little real understanding.

What's that saying again about an ounce of actual experience.....?

Gurgle,

Here, here! This is one issue that has always bugged me about the US. We seem to think that we have all the answers, and we all to often try to suggest, buy or impose our influence on others. Live and let live, aside from some rational assistance when others are in desperate need.

On the other hand, one would hope that learning from other nation's histories would offer some insight to how to logically management of our own great nation. Still hoping here.

Yes, like adopting a national health care system similar to other countries. But, nooooooooo.......... those are considered "socialist," so by definition, they're bad.

Endless entertainment, this time from NW:

And what would that kind of frame of mind make you?

You gotta bring it down a notch.

You may have convinced yourself--but clearly you don't understand the difference between criticism and invective. Calling Obama the worst President of all time, without evidence, is invective. Rebutting your evidence, here's an example of criticism.

George Bush made the greatest foreign policy error of the modern era when he decided to invade Iraq, intending to remake it as a democracy, and using allegations about yellowcake uranium and the possibility of a nuclear bomb as evidence. Top security officials within the administration knew that the stories about yellowcake uranium were fabricated. Top officials within the administration, and most of those who voted for war in Iraq were unaware the the fault lines the the Arab societies in the Middle East fall on the Shia/Sunni religious line, not on the "terrorist/no terrorist" line. The Iraq war did not funamentally alter the political systems in Iraq; Iraq is still supporting efforts that they see as "revolutionary" rather than "terrorist", and the ability of militias and poorly organized Iraquis to bog the United States down in an unsuccessful military operation actually reduced the effectiveness of the military threat of the United States on the Middle East stage.

Mac...when you combine the Iraq decision, with the handling of the financial markets/housing crisis/leverage fiasco, with the ill timed tax cuts, with horrific appointments of Harriet Myers, Chris Cox, John Snow/Paul O'Neil, Bernie Kerik, John Ashcroft and many many others, you get to 29-31% approval and the honor of one of the worst ever, also toss in one of the worst performances in presidential stock market history.

I hear you techno and gurgle. Many expats like me don't have much contact with the media, so the brainwashing we got in our various home countries wears off with time.
In our world the foreign aid given by many first world countries is obviously wasted.
The US military billions spent defending allies who were once poor but are now very rich like Saudi Arabia and South Korea are wasted money.

We see foreign aid do little when given to Third World Governments. The tiny amounts that go directly to providing homes, food, and blankets to the hungry and homeless is the only foreign aid that makes sense.
Those billions could be spent on training programs for the unemployed both at home and abroad.
Those Palestinians with a middle class home, good job skills, and an education are not the guys who don bomb vests.
Hamas uses foreign aid from Iran to put unemployed men in pickups who drive around looking for stuff to fix, learning on the job, and making that terrorist group the only hope for many.
Oh yeah,we aren't allowed to learn to help our own people from the enemy.
I forgot.

Good luck. Greenspan, and now his devoted followers Bernanke and Obama, are violating economic tenets emblazoned across the sky from 1929 to the 1950s: ya don't raise taxes during a recession. Also skywritten for decades is not borrowing to pay off loans (e.g., bonds to China) and printing absolutely insane amounts of fiat money.

Yet here we are. We may have learned a lot, but we're paying zero attention to it for political expedience. We've been kicking this time bomb down the yellow brick road for decades, and it may be nearing the end of its fuse.

Buy gold. Buy LOTS of gold. This house of cards is coming down, within 2-4 years, if many past-successful predictors are right again.

First of all, ISO, we are NOT in a recession. And a little FYI....before you blame Obama for everything under the sun, recognize that both Greenspan and Bernake are republicans nominated by republicans. The last Democrat FED Chair was Paul Volker, nominated by Jimmy Carter. Paul Volker is the strongest dollar advocate we have had in 50 years.

I'm digging the fact that you keep reposting my comment, thanks. Wink
