Wondering what people are using to keep their hands warm in cold weather. I have tried gloves by O'Neil and glacier gloves, but my forearms fatigue quickly. There are a few companies that make mittens, Dakine, and Mystic makes an open palm mitten but wonder how well they work. The colder it gets around here the better the wind is, or so it seem. Please let me know what works for you.

Thanks! Paul

The SEARCH function should find scores to hundreds of posts on the topic. I'd enter gloves mitts in the window, hit submit, and duck.

Open palm.
Neil Pryde makes em, and Inland Sea carries them (Phil)

If i have to sail in temps below that, it's pretty f-n cold and better be good. Then i use the Dakine mitts.

This is a perennial question and everybody has their preferences.

I draw the line at slapping vaseline on the face....that's way too cold

Oh, and since we are finally talking mitts....

time to change your tendons/universals.

Normally change them when we set the clocks foward, but then Sandy came and messed up everthing.

Who needs a winter breakdown?.

I wear two pairs of gloves one over the other in the summer so when winter comes I go down to one pair it is such a relief on my forearms!!! Wink

Thanks outcast, Think I'll try the Dakine mitts. Loved the picture of the redhead! Is that anyone you know?

open palm mittins
If it is colder than that i am not going

This works for me if air is over 40.
And water is in 40's

I will do gloves but only for SUP
Can not use for windsurfing at least not for waves.

Open palm mitts work best.

The other important thing is to come to shore after a few runs if your fingers get cold, and shake the blood back down into your fingers to warm them up. Wait too long, and the warming up can hurt a lot. After doing this once or twice, the fingers stay warm.

When water temps are down to 40 (not yet the case) and air temps are near freezing, you may need more than just open palm mitts. I have a few posts on my blog with details. But right now, open palm mitts still are perfect.
