Looks like a really fun day, and perhaps a bit of a tricky shore break at at times |

yup, typical east coast dilemma, buildings close to the beach, break in pretty close to the water's edge. one of the main reasons i say go big with gear. i used a 6.5 sail, and 105 liter board.
along with a following current, the way to choose gear here in florida at an open beach break is far different than elsewhere. lots of places that get better publicity are far easier to choose really small gear for the surf. if you venture out in conditions like ours here in florida, go big.
even the OBX have it way easier than we do. all one needs to do is drive to a launch that has side off wind, and not much in the way of large buildings to block the wind. _________________ www.aerotechsails.com

thanksgiving day was far larger. mast high and the wind built as the day wore on. got some rides that were 7-10 sets of turns before getting into the middle break. habit of mine in offshore conditions: use the outside section only. that way one stays in the cleanest winds available. yes, it cuts down on the ride length and opportunities to set up aerials, but the frickin wind only started touching the beach when it started blowing 30+ after 2pm. by then i was cooked, and the tide was making the middle break a bit slumpy and the inside very shore poundy.
thankful for being alive and able to wave sail on such a day. _________________ www.aerotechsails.com
