Well, you have plenty of other adjustments to compensate for over/under powered sailing, so top speed should be better more often.
Most boards that are lighter, harder railed, flatter rockered, and thicker railed just lose out in top end compared to your board, so it's a wash.

for higher winds, Bee LTD, try a smaller fin? trim box on it? or A box instead?

A lot of the fun on the large formula type boards is the upwind and downwind sailing. Downwind can be pretty darn exciting. Adding an adjustable outhaul will make this a lot more enjoyable. A somewhat flat sail is fine for reaching and upwind, but if you want stability downwind, then you must bag your sail.

There are probably days where you are on the fence between your 160 and the Bic, but with a broader wind range capability (A.O.) on the Bic, the decision will be easier.

the BEE has a power box, but my smallest fin is a 40 cm Select
my smallest sail is a 6.3
that's okay cuz after 25 knots, i just watch the pros Smile

this year i purchased an AO and yes, it makes a great deal of difference
as you suggested i picked up the 66 cm fin for the FreeFormula and hope to try it before the snow arrives
soon i will be the only one left on the water
time to get out the impermeable bag and cell Smile

my motto is get TOW and FUN
part of the fun for me is trying these older toys that worked well in the day

thanx y'all Smile

For some reason, I think Joethewindsurfa is a shill. Tacking is always an issue with Formula boards. Schloging is always an issue in windsurfing.

I doubt speedy knows what a shill is either. A shill is a person that poses as a customer, or unbiased "expert" who's purpose is to persuade others to "buy"things or ideas. Somehow I doubt that is your intent here, i.e. trying to persuade people to buy used gear. That is what many of us always do, we need no persuasion. Perhaps speedy will offer some clarification? Perhaps it was an attempt at humor.
