Anyone sail at belmont the last few days? How was today? Cabrillo was forecasted with good winds and Pier J and the Marine exchange showed good winds but there wasn't any white caps at all. Also how's the meter at Belmont? Good indicator?

Belmont sensor reads pretty true. The wind is typically much more steady (very limited gusting) at Belmont than Cabrillo so I am usually on a one sail size larger. Launch at Clairmont (ramp where all the kites are) or towards the pool just north of Granada. If the wind is decent you'll find a few of us out.

scka.org has a beach cam that ususally works if you want to do some armchair reconnaissance.

The sensor reads ridiculously high. The lowest number it shows is the average, the middle number is the gust and the top number does not exist.

e.g.: 12-22 @ 16 should be read as 12 mph average, gusting 16.

both Cabrillo and Seal have much more reliable wind (and waves!). the exception is the rare NW wind direction.

So, any hope for cabrillo over the next few days? Or will the santa ana dominate completely and kill off the seebreeze??
Looks like there was wind today, but unfortunately the lifeguard camera is stuck so can't see what's happening.

Sunset was fun yesterday, maybe even a bit stronger than the sensor reading (before it dropped around 4:30). Surf was fairly small, but low tide helped a bit.

So what's the outlook for cabrillo today? The santa ana is supposed to wane, but the current temperature at marine exchange is over 80 and climbing.

Windfinder and surfwatch are forecasting westerly breezes though, so I have packed the big gear and will make the trip if the temperature starts to drop and wind turns westerly.

I'm surprised that forecast for sunday is poor - I would have thought that a switch from off to onshore trend would make for a decent day. Any insights??
