|
|
So it looks like I will be heading to somewhere in Southern France for a wedding next year and am hoping to snag a windsurfing trip on my way back. I am still just beginning to look into it but it looks like I could swing by the Gran Canaria islands on my way back to the states for an extra 300-500$.
Does anyone have some good advice about European windsurfing destinations such as Gran Canaria or Corsica? I wasn't able to find too much information on the first pass of google-ing.
Edit: Not 100% positive about the time of year but it will be around the end of the summer August or September. _________________ _____/)_____

Southern France on the Mediteranean is supposed to be quite good.
The "mistral" winds that come down the river valley are famous and where the board company got it's name.
They set windsurfing speed records near there, maybe 10 years ago.
I have not been there, so I can't recommend anyplace or when the best wind is. Google France windsurfing for rentals and info.
As Zirtab said Tarifa Spain is supposed to be good too. |

Either my computer is screwed, or that link is worthless.
Carl is not looking to go to France to windsurf.
We know southern France get's windy, but what time of the year is OP going?
Tarifa is the main windsurfing destination resort in the western Med. area. |

went to Tarifa once for 2weeks in early august. Got completely skunked, about 3 days of wind and massive crowd. Have friends who have been regularly to Tarifa and Tenerife and prefer Tene for reliable wind and waves.
You can find loads of info on these spots and other European locations on boards.co.uk |

The OP said he's going to southern France in August or Sept.
I know that alot of France takes vacation in Aug, so all the resorts would be crowded. Sept may be a better choice to avoid that, if possible. |
