Nothing paddles like a board with a displacement nose bow, the glide is amazing.
I want to try and sail one someday.

I took the WindSUP for its first (barely) planing session yesterday, using an 8.0 sail in winds around 8 - 12 knots. There might have been a few little splashes coming through the daggerboard slot, but it wasn't bad at all...

I had my 11'8 WindSUP wound up to top gear the other day and water was fairly well sluicing up through the gasket. I am also thinking about removing the centreboard on those occasions and fitting some foam from a pool noodle.

PS does anyone else find the ergonomics of the outboard footstrap position slightly unusual/slightly uncomfortable?

Cheers

i've used the outboard straps. they were very nice. the idea is to have the heels wrap around the rail. adds a more comfortable bit of leverage to go way faster. try it a few more times. you may learn to like it.

Yeah, I run outboard straps on Freerace boards, I was comparing to those in that I found Wind SUP slightly different in a mildly unusual/ uncomfortable stance way - no big deal though.

25+ knots performance, SUP-ability and a teaching platform (with good looks to boot!) this board is a winner in the allround stakes for sure.

I posted a GoPro video of a recent session on the WindSUP. Definitely planes.

My GF and I also tried paddling it in flat water for the first time the other day. Real easy. Good glide. Tracks very well- so well that if you want it to turn sharp you really have to do the step-back on the tail thing convincingly. No idea how it would work for wave riding. I stood with my toes just an inch or two behind the mast track. GF had to stand a little further back, around the daggerboard knob, so the tail wouldn't be sticking out of the water.

Cool video, it looks like there is no wind at all but you were moving along quite well.

Thanks for posting the video Jim, looks like you were motoring along quite well in the light wind. And the board paddles well too! Got to try this!
