What exactly are you asking?
You can use the black N tube, if you get a N mast base to fit atop the mechanical joint.
Or, you can use your normal mast base with that foot, if you add a new mast base atop your mechanical joint.

show me what you mean by the North mast base on top of the mechanical joint, please.

Like remove the old crap atpo the mechanical joint, add a North part that is grey colored with a notch in the cup, that accepts the black N aluminum tube.

If you need more purchase for more downhaul pressure, remove that black plastic cup with the rope and duct tape, replace with a modern base cup, and use your normal Chinnook mast extension.

I think you are trying to help, but you aren't.

a modern base cup wont fit into the board will it ?
it needs the plunger thing to attach in the hole on the board

Thanks

I suppose it's just too much trouble to remove just the black plastic base cup with the duct tape and downhaul line, via a 1/2" socket, and add a modern Chinook mast base cup ....then use a modern mast extension.
Am I trying to help?
I thought I was here to confuse you.

Do you have any idea how ignorant your post is?
I always thought of you as one of the knowledgeable guys on here, because of you excellent surf sailing related posts, but I guess I was wrong.

lack of knowledge has never been a issue on this forum.

lack of civility OTOH

I think your proposal doesn't work in this case.

Well, you do it your way, I'll do it mine.
What would I know? I just worked 24 years selling windsurfing equipement, sold those mechanical joint bases for a few years, and fixed just about everything windsurf equipement related.
Do it your way, it's fine by me.
But it's much easier to do it my way, because it's the right way.
If you want to keep the black cup, use TWO knots, so you get 4 n 1 purchase for more downhaul power.
