No splinter problems at all. I seem to remember that the key is to keep the blade at just the right angle, and to use new blades often so the cutting action is more of a shave. I also sanded some random remnants of glue but didn't take it all off, just most. I still see the yellow contact cement in spots.

I don't sail with gloves and don't sail as often as i used to do, so I present with fairly soft hands. The bare boom greatly reduces and blistering or hot spotting compared to my other booms, but beware, the naked book conducts heat away from your hands pretty quickly. Foam-covered booms feel so sweet when compared initially but fail to give the endurance that the naked carbon booms provide.
