Any one going to be sailing the coast saturday? I am in visiting inlaws in Newport and would love to sail saturday but looking for someone to sail with. I was thinking somewhere between roads end and florence. Florence is 21 now.

Be careful out there David. The morning buoy report shows 9'+ @ 14 seconds. Pretty sizable. I'd go to Florence for best wind.

Simmer riders will be at Florence today David. Today is not a day to ride alone.

I'll be at Florence.
Sailing at the "Rock Dock" in the river. Tides are good at 2:30.

Gotta have some of that perfect coast forecast. Admit I did not want one bit of the 9-foot swell of the last couple of days but it is now forecasted to drop to 5 feet. Less is better! Who's coming with me??

Hey David if you're still in the area, I'm at South Beach State Park. May sail here if it gets windy enough, or will have to go back to Agate Beach. Call if you want, 360-920-6919.

South beach state park is my new favorite launch on the coast. Plush camping right there, and the ability to chose your swell size based on how close to the jetty you are.

Sunday was deluxe. Started out 5.3 but soon went 4.5. By the time I bagged it the 4.0 would have been plenty.

Btw wave slayers, why can't I turn sharper on my toe side bottom turn. I want to go straight up the face but end up just going down the line (straight down wind) maybe I'm not over sheeting enough or something.

Practice, practice, practice. Bottom turn doesn't always need to be so sharp a turn to get vert into the face. A smooth arc through the bottom then just keep it carving toward the top. KEEP SPEED! Yeah sheet in and find out how much forward and down to lay your sail as you approach the bottom.. Then it's the rail to rail transition toward the top that makes a nice snappy top turn.
Bottom turn can always be improved. It's what keeps me interested after thousands of them.
