I demoed an Mistral Syncro around 105-110 liters. ... it felt really squirrelly and out of control on the chop (like it was just slapping the tips of waves). Are the boards you describe a bit more friendly on the waves?

The Synchro is highly regarded by the magazines and many of my friends as one of the smoothest-riding, user-friendly, chop-friendly, controllable boards around for any given size. Was that your first experience on a board that shortwide or small, or could you have been way overpowered that day?

Most sailors regard the Mistral's as the calmest, boringest, dullest boards on the market.

On the accuracy of the Berkeley sensor--it is at the Berkeley Yacht Club, and is pretty accurate for that location. But that is north of the pier, and it is frequently lighter on the south side.

I spend 8-10 hours a day slashing chop swell on my syncro while riding dirt bikes WFO hundreds of miles from sunrise to sunset and consulting with the nations leading physicists, most of which work at Los Alamos NM, and some on SDI and also consult with top board shapers that study hydro dynamic, reduced wetted flow characteristics of wide versus skinny while going to the gym to do an extreme 2 minute workout until complete muscle fatigue, have less than 3% body fat and close my eyes when I drive past Mcdonalds.

does that sound calm, boring and dull to you?

Yeah, calm, dull, boring, Mistral Synchro. Like the one I sailed on Maui for 2 weeks and liked it so much I came home & bought one, see photo from the Delta. That's a 4.8 and I weigh 208.

Who asked zirtaeb to speak for "most sailors"?
