After starting a thread on MFC, I thought that I might add one on Makani Fins. In actuality, I'm curious about the Auku that they are discounting because it is too soft. After selling sporting goods for a number of years, I realized that most of the time you are selling to hard-ons or the female equivalent. Discounting reflects this reality.

Well, I bought one of these discounted fins and it looks like I will be the only one among all the readers of this board sailing it.

Hi Guys ! Thanks for the posts !

The Auku is a little soft so we are reducing the prices because its not up to our standards. Race kitesurfers seem to enjoy them and the smaller version work well too.

The new KAULIA's slalom fins are coming soon with 2 versions. One for lighter winds and one super fast for higher winds.
They should be available in a few weeks

My fin arrived. The guy who I bought it from sent me a message stating that he loves this brand of fin but sold his only tuttle board so he put the fin up for sale. It's a low aspect upright fin , something of which I have no experience.

I just bought two Kaku and two Mano fins from Makani recently and have been able to try them all out. Hands down, best fins I have ever owned- period! First fins I've owned that didn't seem to be there reminding me that it was there holding me back.

Little late to the party but I just tried a Hahalua fin from Makina today. Couldn't tell the difference speed wise compared to my True Ames Blade weed (Fox). But I did feel like planing was a bit easier. Best part was the board seemed to carve better! Going to order a 38cm asap!

Now why isn't pueno here to correct the spelling? Perhaps he doesn't see the error given how he knows absolutely nothing about this sport. By the way, I looked at that fin, the Hahalua, but decided not to buy it. I have a hydrotech weeder in the size I wanted for starters. In addition I was looking for something that would stick to the water better. The Tangent Reaper (which I own in a larger size) has worked so well for me that I thought it would surpass the Hahalua in upwind ability as well as ability to stick.

looking at this fin on the Makani website , I can say it would be pretty darn near impossible to find a more honest straight forward description.

the $ is is very attractive.

Many people around here have Makani fins and all seem happy.

I stopped at my equipment pusher's boutique Monday to buy a Hahalua 38 but he was out of stock. He said they are selling faster than he can keep them. I had to find a weedless spot Tuesday instead... I managed, but the wind there was not as good.
