Oh, I'd highly recommend buying a auto body file, the round tooth serrated kind, for taking down the plastic quickly. The black base will melt if you use high speeds.

I ended up finding a US box to powerbox adapter on ebay. Used a belt sander to grind down the tuttle box material. Drill a couple holes and finish with some epoxy! Took me about 3 beers to finish... call it about 3 hours. Took it out today, and it worked pretty well! Well powered on a 5.9 sail and my F2 Phoenix longboard. Late 80s fin meets late 90s board meets mid 00s sail - Its like a windsurfing time machine!

yeah, I have maybe 4 of the conversion fins, using the adapter boxes...
Over time, they all get cracks from the flexing. Shortterm, they work great. Probably best to secure the fin to the adapter box with epoxy resin, and not rely on the pins alone.

ok, investigation, purchase adapter {how much?} and then three(3) hours work and three(3) beers
was it worth the effort on this "older" fin ?
or just dunn 4 the fun
when will there be a standard across suppliers ??
trim box gone - one down
us/a box still seems to be around
deep tuttle for formula - okay
tuttle for free-race - okay
power box for the rest
personally have US box fins {limited to 30 cm/one foot}, trimm box {for BIC Techno Formula} and power box for the rest
any future windsurf board will need to be powerbox to be considered
i hope suppliers speak to each other and come up with such a standard
is it mostly StarBoard that sticks to the tuttle ??

Thanks zirtaeb. I'll go back and slather some epoxy inside for some added strength.
Joe - The adapter box cost all of $10 shipped. I would have drunk the beers anyways, and the time would have been otherwise spent being forced to watch reality TV with my better half. I also enjoy having an excuse to disappear to the garage for a bit. So for ten bucks, I consider it time well spent! The added bonus is that the fin feels pretty good out on the water too!

I like the look on the slalom guy's faces when we get out of the water, after sailing dead even for 15 jibes and one mile reaches, when they look at the bottom of my board, and there's a PB Adapter fin with a RAINBOW RACE 12.5" in it.
They, of course, are using Slabs, Manta's, SlPros with the TetonicsGoldwings or the newer higher aspect model, and boards less than 2 years old.
My boards are closer to 12 years old, and not slalom boards then.
