It's all a left wing plot!, say the ignorant heads-buried-in-sanders.
There's no proof! It's a hoax!
Well, I'll have ocean-front property soon enough. Sorry about you
guys on the Cape.

the 80's and 90's were windier? sails did not twist at the leech back then, but we had to rig and re-rig quite often as the wind was changing throughout each day practically. got to the point where i'd rig 2-3 sails on any given day....
now, it's just not as windy. dunno why. i do not believe in pure chance though. lots of interconnectedness in our world, right? mt penitubo blew its top in the early 90's. the world was a colder place for 2 years or so after.

I do believe the future of ice sailing will be in question Ed!
New Jersey was the spot to be in the 70-80's for ice. Barnegat Bay froze regularly.
During the 90's Cape Cod and South Shore was the next zone of clear ice in the "melt belt", a region of safe ice that frequently was washed from rain.
Currently New Hampshire, Maine & VT are the next venue for hopefully my remaining ice days ahead.
As far as lack of wind here in NorthEast, my theory is the Greenland Cap melting has contributed to the North Altlantic Oscilation effect which gives us backdoor cold fronts from the northeast, thereby shutting off the SW flow.

When it comes to Artic ice I read a long article about the current situation. The ice cap acreage his year is exceptionally low, but it doesn't mean that next year will be as well.
