Fellow sailor and SUP'r Geoff C and I had the north side of the local break with some decent Waist to chest sets in effing cold water today. A little rain and an air temp of 60 made it feel like real fall conditions.

Shortly after we came out, local surfer Dean plus 2 others spotted a black fin. Horns blew and everyone made a prompt and orderly water exit.

Dean snapped what looked like a classic fin shape with a telephoto lens. Self-proclaimed experts said it wasn't a GW, fin too black.

I had enough and wanted to catch the Pat's second half anyway.

Hopefully back to Bayside sailing tomorrow.

Ron, any plans for Skaket tomorrow (Monday) morning? Not sure that the wind will show up, the forecast has been going down steadily - but if we get readings of 20+ early, I might just show up.

Hi Peter:

No go, with work in the am.

I'm gonna try at 3ish though.

While the big boys surf sailed over at Nauset yesterday, I went in the kiddepool of Pleasant Bay. One other sailor with me on the north side. Very gusty and very rusty, a bad combination.

I am no expert but I have been doing way to much research into great whites in the last three years.
The sharks and dorsals color can be very dark and even on the black side.

Any chance you can get a copy of the photo?
Gregg Skomel I am sure would like to see it.
PS the "Shark Wranglers" are around 3 miles off-shore and chumming for great whites with plans to tag 50 in 40 days.

Hi Jerry:

Color variation noted!

The one thing that underwhelmed the event was how slow it went at periscope depth.

I'll try to run it down.

What kind of wetsuit, if any were you wearing? Is there any way to access a water temp sensor in Pleasant Bay?
