I need a trim box fin for a project, I haven't seen any on the usual fin sites.

Shape is not important, but it should be around 32cm long, as I will be altering the shape and length.

Cheers

Hi you might want to try http://www.larsonsport.com/ they might have some used fin that you can then cut down. Also talk with the guys at http://watersportswest.com/ he has a lot of used fins in all the different base's. Also can I ask your opinion on adding thruster fins to a 2001 JP Freestyle wave board 255x56.5x 14.5" tail 1 foot off tail with a power box main fin.
Do you think it would help the board for wave riding or not worth the trouble. Thanks! Michael

Thanks , I have a trip planned to Larsons this week. The other site I will look into.
WHAt SIZE IS THE JP ?
for the JP, its similar to a Mistral I have and did the conversion on, 264X 59.5
era 1999 104L.

The addition of small side bites//thrusters would IMO have only 1 minus,
with the additional drag it will plane slightly slower. THE COST MAYbe a minus , but if you don't plan further projects, you could purchase small quanitys, like epoxy. You would need some fiberglass/carbon sheet, and of course the boxes and fins. For this enterprise I would go for PROBOX boxes, and use their fins or FCS surf board fins which drop right in. I use this box on most of mine and for small fins it is plenty strong when re inforced to the underside deck.

OTOH the plus, side , is it will be more firmly planted, way more snappy turns, maybe do top and bottom. Since the fins will be smaller you can start/sail in less depth, big plus in some areas, and then plane sooner cause you started sooner.

What I found is the basic characteristics are going to remain the same on the board, but enhanced to the tune of the pluses listed above.

PM me if you want any further info/help and what size is the JP ..?

U2U2U2,

Call Chuck Ames at True Ames fins. I know that he has Trimbox fins in his shop in Goleta, CA, because I've seen them there not long ago.
