I tried my 34cm with my 8.1 and it was a spinout marathon. I need something bigger but missed the last swap meet I have two powerbox 30cm fins and only need one, the extra is a convertible wave, fiberglass and in good shape. Any one have an extra 46 +/- slalomy powerbox fin they might want to trade? |

sure your not looking for a 25? on an 8'-0" bd (or is that a sail? 46 is big.
spinout is either not keep proper pressure (sailors fault) or a crappy foil (fins fault). |

Might be hard to find anything 45+ in PB, as the screw is not strong enough to hold much more than that size.
Look instead for low aspect ratio, thick fins, that give you more lift at the low end than the typical blade fins everyone is drolling over.
General rule of thumb is not not exceed fin length of the OFO 30 cm in front of the tail.
Using a thicker, older style fin, you can just about add 10-15cm in length compared to modern fast blade fins.
New style fins, most 8 meter sails do need about 45cm lengths, but an older thicker longer chord fin might be fine at around 35mcs. in length. |

8.1m sail. I dont have any problems with spinout with the same setup and a 6.8, but the 8.1 seems to overwhelm it, especially upwind |

I think it came with a 44cm new (I didnt get it new) so thats probably fine since the range is advertised up to 9.0. 46cm might be better though |
