super lit, the board jibes well. not so lit, the draggy aspect of those double concaves so far aft may be culprit. the way to overcome that would be to duck jibe it. minimizes the duration of power off. my main complaint with the tabou remains the lack of early plane. lots of other boards i've tested side to side have not had the issue of gutlessness.
one day at the latest OBX test, i traded off some boards with a weekend warrior type. he knew how to pump to plane but claimed it cost too much energy. he did it for one run. i sailed for a few more hours than him that day. pump to plane may have required more energy for a trifling few seconds, but allowed me to make lemonade out of lemons, and sail with more interest. that was a big part of the tests we were doing.
my main point, lots of folks that liked the tabou didn't sail much when the wind was "lighter." that comprised a large fraction of our time those weeks. so, lots of the larger boards were not ridden as much as they should have in the lighter winds. their perspective of what was a good board was highly suspect, from my point of view.
in the largest class of boards the blobs were very misleading. for me the starboard, jp, exocet and even the goya out planed the tabou.
surprisingly, since i was one of only a few experts listed as a tester, the blob showed a really strong expert consensus. i don't like the rockets. they hold people back. as in the jibe issue. my blob for the tabou rocket 145:
control 8
expert cons 4
fun factor 5
jibe 7
ease of use 7
comfort 8
early plane 3
also, a complication with that test. the RRD 155 had a pair of really huge and heavy weed fins. the only matching pair that wind nc had. that board planed better than the tabou, after i got to ride it with the proper fins. _________________ www.aerotechsails.com

tested in Hatteras soundside, the long black Makani fin 28cm and the G10 plain white sides 14.74cm were the best combo for the 2+1 setup.
It works really well, this board is an early planer and it suffered only slightly, and since I could start in less water depth, could plane sooner than with a long, 24cm fin.
Upwind was improved, and it turned like a 115L board, a success in every respect. _________________ K4 fins

Used in the Maine lake for a month, must have used 6 or so combinations of fins, the Black Project Fin of 28cm and FCS H3s asymmetrical worked as well or better than any, especially when high speed jibes were the event.
Hit the large center fins on occasion yet but only minimal sanding was required to restore.
tons of fun.
the blue moon of August on the lake.

Hi U2U2U2,
Where in Maine is your lake?
Is there any place that rents windsurfers on Maine's coast?
I am coming to Maine next week and probably will not have any time to sail, but thought I would ask in case the opportunity should arise.
Regards,

Wow! You are so down east and close to the Bay of Fundy you must feel the tide even though you are at an inland lake!
