I tried one of these on Lake Arenal in Costa Rica 3 years ago and agree with the assessment from Boardseeker that it made the board feel much more softer thru chop...not sure if it is worth it for the price, though.

I loved them, using nothing else for a decade. When Chinook stopped making them, I bought their last box of them. The world WSing speed champ said they improved his speed, they help protect the decks of light boards, and they definitely soften the ride in chop and landings. If they were compatible with RDMs, I'd use nothing else.

North has the shox for both SDM and RDM masts. No excuses, isobras!!

I've Googled the Shox.XTR before, but it's not compatible with my WSing approach unless I buy 7 of them @ ~$500 apiece -- if we can even get them in the U.S. -- and even then it has operational "issues". They can't be THAT good.
