Huge difference. The new 6.8 is heavier, more complicated to rig, bends the match much more, lasts less longer.
But the old 5.7 has less overall range, and a topend that limits your board speed by being very short. |

You found some stuff that you had fun using. IMHO, great job. Who gives a rip if the sail is not performance = you didn't have to pay $650 for the dang thing! So the board is XXXX, you didn't give $1799 for it. You took ownership of something someone else isn't using and had a blast using it.

Since youre pretty familiar with them... Where should I set it in the mast track? The board has an old style track up forward(57inches+ from the tail). Is the windwing full on 80's forward or closer to a modern placement or somewhere in between? |

That was prety much the point . Not that things havent improved but that old stuff is still fun and useable and that no one should use lack of money as an excuse (expecially as an excuse to do SUP or kiteboarding since those require even more money to break into) |

60" from the tail was a pretty normal standard in the late 80's until the no nose craze in the early '90's.
Big guys riding small boards usually set it forwards another 1.5", while little guys on floaty glass boards looking for uphauling and top end speed favored 58". The no nose boards changed that. |
