Hey Gang,
For weeks the Gorge has been in an atypical "bob & blast" mode due to the upper level high pressure that has been baking much of the USA east of the Gorge. With all the snow melt in the Rockies the current has often been too strong for great swell while the pressure gradient was too close for steady winds many days.
But today, August 1, the Gorge switched from "bob and blast" to a more normal "blast & nuke"
Here are some photos that hopefully document the demise of "bob and blast":

Heck, I thought "bob & blast" ended last Friday.

Great session after work Wednesday.
Nice to see everyone sharing the Hatch swell.

Man, Godsey's point is well reinforced. Celilo has better swell than that.

Those photos don't show it at all, but the swell was fantastic yesterday, particularly between the point and Broughton landing. Big long smooth ocean rollers, with steep pitches into cascading whitewater, in nicely spaced sets.
One of the best corridor days of the year, IMHO.
