Oyster to Tigers at 1 pm (my usual start time) on Thursday. 5.0/110 ltr setup. Not a good session but what the hell, it's water time. The wind came in pulses and was never sustained at Tigers ~30% planing time. Almost negative wind at Genentech point so I had to uphaul a couple of times on my way back in. Cut up my feet coming in at the launch..damn, those rocks below the ramp are sharp |

| Today's Dawn Patrol session completes a very satisfactory week of wind. If you couldn't get up before the sun or break away from other commitments to enjoy the periods of high wind this week, no worries, because I took care of it. May there always be someone windsurfing. |

Need booties!
Today at the Stick, continuing the pretty bad week with Crissy dead (as usual) and not enough wind to drive to Coyote. But there was a solid hour of 6.6 conditions on my 95L slalom and I tried a slightly bigger fin (36 Talon, instead of 34) that seems to work VERY well with the board.
Wind south west, almost all the way to the harbor on the other side, turned almost south later and died. |

| Patience, perseverance and downright stubbornness finally paid off in late afternoon as the wind went more southerly, the chop evened out and had a nice one hour + on a 5.7. |

After no wind or southerlies for the better part of 2 weeks...
5.0: perfectly powered, overpowered, underpowered. Typical Bodega: gust 30, lull 18 on the graph. Rare flat water at first. Best planing reach of my life. First successful waterstart of my life. Suddenly, somehow everything just felt light and controlled, momentum began and prevailed, and I was up.
Then it was back to the usual head-up, submerge, head-off, slam, butt-sail for a bit, repeat until exhausted.
The chop then came up as the tide rose beyond +4 or so, and brought island after dense island of eelgrass. I hit one of these while getting started, and the board came to a dead stop. Weed fins can only do so much. |

| dsgrntl, happy for you! my first waterstart was only a couple of years ago and I was screaming with joy. Good call on bodega. alameda was great all week but today I caught the best of it (4:30-6) and it was holey and I ended up slogging back to shore for 10 minutes. |

Great someone had a good day.
Been off most of the week, then today Sat looking at MarinaBay from 2 until past 6, riding my bike to Pt.Richmond, then towards Berkeley until we just had to go back once again.....
Good 6.5 weather, didn't want to rig more than 5.5's. Lots of sailors came and went, after an extended checkout.
That first waterstart, in Sept '83, is still fresh in my mind. It's gonna stay there past all my other highlights, I"m sure. |

| Back from Maui, but Washoe is having a very nice summer. Let's call it 5.5'ish sailing most days in July, a couple higher wind (4.0) days and nice late day thermals. Show up around 4:30 and sail for hour and a half on something like a 5.5-not bad at all. Then you can drink your beer and celebrate. Missed half of last season to major shoulder injury so much to appreciate this season. |

| Sunday MarinaBay 5.2 and 75, nicely powered most of the time, a couple of slow planing runs towards Pt.Isabelle. Few out, but at 5, maybe 10 total. |

Yes indeed, Marina Bay was paradise today. However, as usual, the self proclaimed "meteorologist" was completely wrong. OTOH, his "backcasts" obfuscations and whining are somewhat amusing. Tonight, he wrote this:"The special update I agonized over mid morning..." Does he get paid?
The agony. |
