Heidi...
It's supposed to warm up a bit by Friday and weekend, so bring a club 160 and the two sails you were planning. That cover's everything, light westsuit, and be prepared to help friend back upwind with a smaller, but over 120 liter board.

Heidi,
I've been here all week. Pretty gusty but best later in the day. Weather and water have been warm, no wet suit needed. Water temp is between 68-70 degrees.
The gusts have been greater than 18-24 but in between far less. I'd say 8-12 mph. The gusts, more like 100-200 yard wide bands of wind, come through every 3-10 minutes. Enough to yank me on a plane with a 6.0 @ 165 lbs. Light wind freestyle in between the gusts. Winds been like that since Tues. from about 11:30 am to 5:30 pm. I'll be out there. Red & Yellow or Red & Black Naish sails.

JonnyO - take mountain bikes and ride the nearby Emigrant trail. It is gorgeous! Wish I could "end up" in Truckee this summer.

I'm with JP here. Tahoe has off the charts epic MTB. Hole in the Wall, TRT, Mr Toads, Northstar.....insane Summer fun. Then , on the way home, hit Sherman!

Whoa! And I thought I was susceptible to the cold. I don’t even own a 4/3.

I'm with Heidi, a full suit at Berkeley, Coyote, maybe even Donner. When it's really blowin, it's cool. Plus it's MUCH more comfortable if you have to do that long long swim back to shore! 65D water gets cold when you're in it for 1hr+.
Coachg, didn't I see you sailing with the guy who sails Crissy with no wetsuit?

Carl,
That guy is nuts. I always wear a weatsuit when sailing in the bay. There is no choice, the air temps there are colder than the Donner Lake water temps.

Forget the wetsuits and spend a day at Washoe which is about a hour drive to the east. We have had 20-25mph wind every afternoon for a long time and looks to continue for a while. Donner is a fun place to sail a longboard tho if you have one.

If I needed more wind I would have stayed at Sherman.
