OK, here's how it works (and it's been a very long time since I took physics);
One of the laws of Physics is the Conservation of Energy, in short energy is neither created or destroyed but converted.
In the case of wind generation, energy from the wind is transfered via the blades to a generator that converts the rotation of the blades to electricity.
So for every spinning blade out there there is a reduction in wind energy as it passes the blades. The towers are also spaced with this in mind (There is also the turbulence created that the builders of the towers have to take into effect when spacing the towers.)
There can be no doubt that as the wind farm grows the wind at the powerlines site will be weaker and increasing gustier then spots less in the shadow of the wind farm. It is most pronounced when the wind is mostly out of the West.
You cannot remove energy just upwind of a sailing site via wind generation and expect it to have no impact. I'm sure there is some satellite in space that is able to capture the effect in some high tech fashion.
Yes the typography does play a role but when you add in the wind farm you compound the problem. |

I think it's time for birds to start taking responsibility for their own actions. _________________ /w\ |

the amount of power extracted from the air mass by a wind turbine is a tiny percent.
I dont find my notes but I think it is less than 1% |

Now what I was told is that the dead birds don't go to waste they are used as fertilizer to help grow more windmills on the windmill farm. Farmer's are very smart people don't you think. Sometimes I wish I was a farmer but even if I was I don't know if I would have thought of using the birds for fertilizer like they did.As for killing the wind everyone knows that when the big diesel motor spins the propeller lots of wind comes off of the propeller.We should ask the farmers if they will point them at the water so we can windsurf on the wind (from the propeller)
Farmers like to help people they might do that for us. I think we should try to contact a windmill farmer ASAP. I am surprised that someone as smart as iso did not think of this sooner he could never be a farmer I guess.eeeeieeeioh with a cluck cluck here and a cluck there, here a cluck there a cluck everywhere a cluck cluck. I think a farmer wrote that,very smart indeed. Gman. |

Has it not occurred to these windmill fanatics that they threaten the very future of mother earth?
By building billions of these montrous temples to insanity in the path of the prevailing westerlies, they will inevitably speed the rotation of the earth. Dammit, the days aren't long enough for us oldies as it is, so we can do without that! (I even voluntarily restrict my maximum sail size to 8 metres, so as not upset the delicate balance.)
Of course, I understand the plot. The couch potatos are all so fat and heavy nowadays that they wish to decrease the earths gravity just to be able to actually walk about like us normal human beings.
It's got to stop, I tell you. It just won't do!
(And as for birds taking responsibilty for their own actions ... I think that was a different thread. ) |
