The picture on the front of today's cape cod times shows a kayaker being followed by a great white shark fin at Chatham. Pretty darn close, too. Crazy picture! I would link to the pic but their site charges and I'm maxed out on free clicks this month. Maybe someone else could post it. Does anyone know who the SUP rider is in the foreground? I've been open water swimming in Yarmouth as well as windsurfing and im still not used to our new summer neighbors. Eek.

And the full pic in the paper shows the standup guy on a plastic 12' paddling on his knees. and the Grip is wrong.

So many problems with this photo including the fact that you are not allowed to kayak on Nauset Beach

Must be photoshopped......Smile

The paper says that the shark seemed to pay particular attention to the blue kayak......Kayak sails to dip, and Standup board sales will boost!

One could hope that it cuts the crowd down a bit, but it only overran Chatham last year with "Curious Onlookers"

OK, here's a better picture

With my boney a$$ed non insulated frame, I tend to grab a wetsuit before others. But yesterday, with no wind, no waves and humid as all get-out; I don't think I would have been fully suited. And booties for those conditions, hmmmmmm.

Aside from OC's critique of paddle grip, please note the toe top down foot position. That's fine as long as you have booties, don't do it for long, bare footed, with a ribbed deck.

One last comment, if it was me; you would have seen some serious water being shoveled!

Nauset residents beach not closed today

We have been surfing there or just north of inlet 7 of the last 9 days
I have not seen any fins or sharks.

Although some tourist's thought they saw a fin last sunday. So everyone was waiting on the beach for while.

Saw an awsome display of whales Friday am session at CG. pod off shore was blowing and breaching. Very cool.

Well the kayaker could have had his PFD in the boat, but the SUP is certainly missing his as well.
