Yes, the lack of a Bermuda High and the warmer ocean is the wind killer, and is a very good explanation. I am very surprised the the OBX is rocking', those charts are to die for.

Sum, Sum Summertime

Although my trusty windsurfer is becoming a catch-all since its last day over a month ago; SUP surfing has filled in nicely. Starting a week ago Wednesday, waves and favorable tides have worn me out.

Today, with no waves and no wind my son's SUP gives a decent surface for my ritual of reading a week's worth of papers in the garage.

(I'll confess - usually it's bottom's up when reading)

My $80 dollar investment in the camo foam top has more than paid for itself.

The image of an SUPer trying to stay abreast of his van, paddling against this year's very high currents, just struck me. I can just see somebody standing there 20 feet away from my beach chair, paddling his ass off but actually going absolutely NOwhere and wondering how he's going to get ashore without losing 100 feet of land. How fast can you guys paddle them things for an hour or so?

Maine doesn't get and never has got much wind. My theory is yes, the patterns have changed. We now get Maine's shi.ty winds. To me the wind has been on a long slow decline for the past ten years. Bad last year, and really bad this year. And , as others have noted, the Bermuda Highs , have disappeared. Bravo, to Ron C , for enjoying his suping. I'm afraid, just as the long New England winters are a thing of the past, so are the summer wind generating patterns. Hope I'm wrong ,though.

That was an interesting short lived southerly. Arrived at the beach with a customer just in time to watch it fade to nothing.

Now it’s getting serious

I just heard on channel 5 my work comrade Dawson shut down the beach due to a fvcking great white!

Making matters even worse, to save money for new gear, I cancelled all TV channels except for the locals. I can’t even watch the TDF!!

Ron, we cut the cable many years ago. Good news is , the Tour is back on NBC. Mountain stage is live today At 8am and I get It in HD with my $29 antenna. Rather be in NorCar sailing with the boy though.

A little Heads up. I got the GoPro wireless remote and it works great!!! Now every clip does not start and end with my face in the camera.
Now if we ever get some wind the remote will work great on the Clew-View! Wink
