I have a topic that should take over: How many fins should a windsurfer have? tell me about it and then tell me all about toe-in on the side fins and why or why not windsufers should have it. quad, thruster, single fin, bonzer? discuss |

Ride what you like. A windsurfer should have just enough fins, but not too many. None is not enough. One is the most common number of fins. Most people use weed fins in this area I have found. Personally I like one fin per board at a given time. I should mention I have not ridden a multi fin be it a quad fin, thruster or bonzer in a long time. My 84 liter FSW JP does have a tri- fin set up and I hope to check it out soon! |

One fin only. Any more would go against nature. Not really but I've tried 3 fins and the board felt sluggish and 'stuck' in the water.
This was a one time trial for me so I have absolutely NO basis in fact or normalized sample.
Also, I like the idea of grounding out when going at full speed in the shallows with a big single fin. You haven't lived until you've put your head thru your sail! It builds character and blurred vision, also a strange appreciation for Barbara Streisand.
Not to mention the mermaids, their totally into the big fins!!!
Can you all tell I'm losing my mind from a complete lack of wind!!!!!!!

Sorry...I've enjoyed your posts for years and should have remained silent. I'm only a paying member of IW for the summer months and there just hasn't been any wind...
I've heard banging a woman with a wooden leg changes your luck...I hope someone nails a Peggie soon to break this horrible dry spell. |

Is porta pootes in Mexico? Sounds like I better take a turd cutter fin if I ever visit. |
