President Obama didn't lie. In the past, he has indicated that he didn't favor use of executive privilege as it was often used during the Bush presidency, and this is the first time that he's invoked it during his presidency. With a jerk like Issa fishing hard for opportunities, I understand the need to be able to draw a line using the strategies available to you, even if they aren't those most favored.

Frankly Bard, you're the one that been duped. Issa's on a political witchhunt, and you don't seem to recognize that.

I guess the 17 DEMOCRAT members of congress who voted to censure Holder were also duped?

It was only the rats and roaches who fled down the capital steps when the lights got turned on.....

Thanks for the post Florian. But you may be too optimistic in expecting Obama haters to read, much less anything that is not from an Obama-hater web site. Here's a pithy quote that sums up the article pretty well:

Quote:
Irony abounds when it comes to the Fast and Furious scandal. But the ultimate irony is this: Republicans who support the National Rifle Association and its attempts to weaken gun laws are lambasting ATF agents for not seizing enough weapons—ones that, in this case, prosecutors deemed to be legal.

Yes, it's pretty sad that especially those who most loudly voice their opinion (Bard and Yeehaa) seem to be impervious to the concept of reading before squawking.

Issa does what Republicans do best: Kick up enough dirt and make your opponent look bad. By the time the dust settles, and cooler minds prevail, their audience will have made up their minds.

Obama did the right thing slamming the door shut after surrendering 7000+ pages of documents. His commitment to transparency was being used against the president by people who are holding themselves to vastly different standards. No sense in bringing a knife to a gun fight ... even if it is disappointing.

Even though Obama promised never to invoke "executive privelege, he did it. More importantly, he blasted Bush for the same practice.

According to the Supreme Court, executive privilege is primarily intended to protect the President in matters related to national security. Its use is expressly prohibited as an shield merely to cover his ass. Holder denied that even he, let alone the President, did not know of F&F. Irrefutable evidence proved Holder was lying about his knowledge of it, and now the President puts himself in the middle of it by invoking executive privilege. He's either so stupid that he can't see the harm in that, or is hiding something worse than implication in F&F. Is there any other rational excuse?

Bard, what makes you think that all Democrats think alike, particularly in the NRA arena? I think that you should put on your thinking cap and begin to see the lay of the land. Democrats representing folks in tenuous districts with very thin margins tend to play the middle ground favoring the NRA and their constituent gun owners. It's pretty simple really.

Is it news to you that politicians play all sides of the line when needed in their districts? But in the big scene though, I think that the Obama Administration and the Democrats in Congress know that your "questionable Democrats" will support the Democratic side of the picture on important goals.

Oh hater Bard, did you read that 7000 pages were given? Did you realize that the NRA had a hand in drafting legislation such that the prosecutors have limited authority over resale of guns? Did you understand that the NRA is afraid that this story might lead to more control of resale of guns? Do you understand that the NRA is one of the most powerful election forces in the country? Now do you have some clue why 17 Democrats in pro-gun districts are nervous about the TEA party and the yammering from the gun nuts?

Naw, you're clueless. But a consistent hater.

I guess that makes the 17 Democrats whores? Thank God for our right to bear arms. That may someday keep the dictators from gaining power.

Bard--you amaze me at how batshit crazy you are:

Do you mean they have other priorities, or they are perhaps a little afraid of the batshit crazy far right gun nuts that are threatening them? Yeah, you guys are bullies who can't make a coherent argument--but can always threaten other people. And your hero is the presidential candidate who led his posse to beat up a different kid in high school. All before he offshored jobs to China and his money to the Caribbean. Punks, all of you. Punks.
