There is no doubt that 10+ kite boarders showing up with all their gear and board shorts over wetsuits have some serious impact to a beach. We see it. It would definitely help their case if they could consolidate where they laid their gear out. At our beach, I joke we should have a guy doing air traffic control as it always seems like they all want to launch and land at exactly the same time. Self policing is a nice idea, but as we know it only takes one guy telling off the wrong beachgoer about "being in his lines" to get the whole party shut down. I hope the rules don't carry over to windsurfers.

Fascinating, and very disturbing, that the only mention of windsurfing is in the line stating that kiting and windsurfing were banned.

I have to say that the kiters on Masskiting do a great job of working with the community and trying to keep things safe for all. Most of the problems are from tourist and yahoos that do not give a crap.
Kiting without question brings more danger and should be treated differently than windsurfing.
But the organized groups like Masskiting are very concerned about the image and safety of the sport.

Here is a scanned copy of the Cape Cod Times front page story.
This is why windsurfers can't associate with the Kiters, we loose access!
I understand the desire for kiters to want the same access, but the sports are very different. Kiters need more beach room to setup and stowe gear, not to mention the launching room required as well.
And now the public gets missinformation regarding the town decision made.....

Know plenty mellow- kiters on the Cape (Mellow-chargers)
But these guys are not a help:
http://www.kitecod.com/
Wrong vibe Wrong business plan....
Might try to get to the meeting just to be respectful and put forth a notion that we want people and families at the beach....it is our economy.

I have seen some kiter classes on Swan River beach giving lessons flying directly overhead of beach bathers & swimmers...while kites were crashing around.
