Palo Alto was sweet this Sunday. 4.7/85 at 1 pm. Sailed to the salt towers on the Fremont side of the South Bay. Warm waters, steady winds, no need to go to the Delta to get my 2 hr stoke. Ended my session a fully planing, hero jump to the pier scenario. Actually got an applause from a dozen people watching from the pier...weird. Not bad for an almost 63 yr old geezer. Cool

Linda Mar delivered big time Sunday. Thanks wind god. Last millenium was the last session that good. way over powered just the way I like. Beginner shorebreak made it easy to punch out.

DvCali what year is ur rrd fsw 100?

On Sunday, TI was good, the avg sized sailor was on 5.0/85L and probably were overpowered at times. Most got on the water around 3, there was a little drop of wind for short time around 5, then the wind came back up again. Some flattish swell near the island and steeper swell further out, nothing real big though. Some ventured over to Angel, I did not. The fog dropped distance visibility at times as it moved in and out. Not epic, but a nice day. We are so spoiled that sailors debate whether it's time to launch or not when the wind reading is 20-24mph!

It is a 2010. For me (at 155 pounds) it works wonderfully when powered up with a 5.3 or 6.0, although you can use it with a 4.7 (at the Stick for my pathetic beginner freestyle attempts) and a 6.5 with a bigger fin. It is sort of wide (62cm) but works very well at Coyote, and even at Crissy with its chaotic chop. Trick in chop is to have it powered, that way it goes over everything with pose and you don't feel the size. Very versatile and floaty, so nice to know you can come back if the wind drops. Maybe a bit slow but who cares I have my slalom board if I want to suffer. Wink

Thanks.
I've logged over 50 days at Tomales, Marconi, GKnoll, and one at ChickenRanch. But closer to 75 at Limantour, easily that at PaloMarin, maybe 15 at Stinson, 2 at Agate at the white dead tree.
Not sure if windsurfing is worth a $50 gas drive out to. Since I'm retired, my daily take home is about 17 bucks a day. My van is a 10 mpg gas hog.

Been wondering if anyone ever sailed Agate, and if it was ever any good. Seems on-shore and filled with rocks thought...

A pack of PA Mud-dawgs descended upon SLR yesterday Sunday to avail of the Marine Surge conditions. It turned out to be quite a rig-a-thon as the wind couldn't make up its mind. We all got plenty of sailing in after the wind started to pick up at 3pm exactly as predicted, but just as much rigging/re-rigging it seemed. I rigged 5 times 5.0/5.5/5.0/4.0/5.0 (the middle 5.0 session would have been better served on a 4.5 but since I had the 5.0 half rigged from the initial rigging I decided to use it anyway). Several of the other dogs did something fairly similar though one stubborn dawg held onto 5.2 for the entire session and another did well on just two sails 4.7 and 4.2

We were all on ~100L boards (handy in the holes as the wind was fickle)

The Andy B show after camp was spectacular as always...

Agate.
The boy who lives out there, RayDieter (last house before RCA, so past Agate), sails from Agate out to sea, with MattGhurash). They are the horizon sailors, passing all the shorebreak to sail ocean swells outside. They have radios, and have called CG for rescues.
The rest of us sail the waves, seldom going out much past what we can swim in from. Agate's launch is from the middle of the cove, where the river runs out, the white tree branches. There is a right reef, yes rocky, that has a channel go get out just downwind, and another very sharp rock reef if we get too far S, or downwind.
Prevailing winds on NW is side, side onshore, so it's bottom turn off the top on the inside reef right waves. It's usually small inside, so bring a turny, floaty board. Trick is to slog out hard upwind, then pivot jibe and ride the wave all the way back in to the sandy beach right there.
Highly recommend higher tides, and earlier in the day, similar to Stinson.

Pleasant surprise at Washoe today. Wind was predicted but turned out to be a 4.2, small board day. Sunny, warm and very few kite shadows on the water. Sweet. the beer tasted very good.

Berkeley Thursday late 5PM show, 5.5 and 109, gusts to 28 or so, well powered for an hour, then got tired.
Friday showed up again late, around 4:45, got some runs with wind, but it died for over half an hour, then came up to pretty good 6.5 and 120 lightwind slalom gear for an hour.
Wierd puffy clouds, similar to those at Mt.Fugi yesterday.

What's up with Washoe? 3 days in a row of 4.0 or smaller. If this keeps up there will be nowhere to rig or park as everyone moves here.
