Who knows about the Naish Hybrid Wave 2006-2007?

Thought I might provide an update on my Naish Hybrid wave 84. I was
somewhat hesitant to use it, because I was so dialed into my custom
board, but a couple of weeks ago one of my Amigo's drove right over the
nose of my custom, and sorta drove me onto it. I have to say, I really
like the way it rides. It took me a couple of days to adjust to the ride,
as it is a little rougher, than the custom, but at 59 cm wide, it rides
amazingly smoothly in some pretty nasty Doug's chop. I attribute
that to the double concave, vee, and pin tail. What I really like about the
thing is that it will turn tight, I mean really tight, and either off the tail,
or off the rail, in any conditions, and it is oh so surfy. Plus, with a huge
(10 inch) fin, it'll carry a 5.5M sail, and it's still surfy. The only time I
noticed how short it was (at 7'2") was when trying to slog the thing.
It's pretty easy to pearl the nose. Plus it's light to carry, and due to
it's stubbiness, easy to transport and to store. If it'll carry a 3.7 (or even
a 3.2) as well as it carries a 5.5, It might be the perfect Gorge board for
me, and continues my tradition of never meeting a Naish I didn't like.
If it only lasts a season, it'll be worth what I paid for it. I'm pleased!

the 96L that I have is complex: the addition of the boxes for a tri fin set up

has not changed the character much. It sailed as a single pretty much the same as a tri and tried many fin variations. I still have several to try.
best was a lot of fin area, all 3 about 15cm long

It is really loose, upwind was decent, turns are ultra quick with 3 fins. It is not an easy board to ride, it planes slo, but once underway is quite fun, rode this back to back with my Tabou Pocket Wave 85L the Naish is actually more fun but harder to ride, the 96L feels a lot smaller, and for me it slogged ok, but has a narrow sail size window, 5.5m was great, 6.0 felt big.

HR in a few weeks, but have plans for other board, may change my mind...and bring it

Since you're a fin guy, I found that not only did the 84 want a bigger fin,
but it also wanted a thicker fin, neither of which seemed to reduce the
looseness much. Top end is probably reduced substantially, but
I'm not using the board for drag racing, and it's plenty fast enough for swell riding. Best $429 dollars I've spent in the last year.

Of course the 96 might have different characteristics, and it seems really
really wide and floaty for most Gorge conditions. I'd go with what you
like, or bring both. I'm surprised it won't carry a 6.0. It should carry
a 6.5 no problem, but again, it is a pretty weird shape.

PM me when you get to town if you like. I might be able to find a beer or
2 in my cooler for ya.

p.s. I found that if you kick the thing forward, rather than standard
pumping, it seems to plane up earlier. Still no formula board
though (thank goodness).

it feels smaller than 96L, maybe more like 85L.

a 6.5 would not have been pleasant.

I'm up to 7 boards now and this one is likely to stay in the shed, for this trip.

Friend of mine uses the 69 or is it 65 for her only board at ShermanIsland. Takes 5 down to mid 3's, but a little lively even with a 7.75" wave fin. She weighs 125.
I've owned over 30 wave boards, and was never ennamored with the '01-'05 models in the higher 70's thru lower 80 liter range.
