I don't sail Roosevelt often enough to know what's been happening there in the past, but was really impressed with how well people and dogs were behaving over Memorial Day weekend. It's the first time on a crowded weekend I've been able to maneuver to the beach without major problems, and everyone was in a very good vibe mode. Just watch out for that young whippersnapper (pink sail) on the inside reach who blasted past me, that dude is BAD!! Yes, the drinking fountain is now dry, but Mike was kind enough to share his Gatorade with me. Wink

Ditto on the mellow vibe Memorial Day weekend. Sailors, kiters, jet skiers, beer drinking non-wind folks in chairs, tenters, rvers, kids, dogs etc. all seemed to get along well and respectfully despite a huge crowd. Of partiuclar note--couple of nice disabled windsufer rescues by kiters. Tons of fun. Now that we are sans park host lets keep it up.

Getting back to the grass issue ..... The word from the Army Corps is that there is not a budget for cutting the grass so they are intentionally not watering it so that it won't grow.

Yes, the Memorial Day windy day ... Sunday? ... was excellent on land and sea ... Very encouraging.

And guess what replaces grass when it dries up: weeds, including stickers from goatheads to sandspurs (which make goatheads feel like marshmallow puffs by comparison.)
