Yesterday and today it's been underreporting to a significant extent. 23 at Marker 14, 11 at Marker 10 for example. Now it's showing 12 and reports are coming back that it's 5.0.

Yes something is odd. Which brings up the point of when we will get marker 12 up and running. Mike Godsey said they had applied for permits more than a month ago. WE NEED MARKER 12 NOW!!!!!

Sherman guys,
We did post a note in today's forecast that conditions will be more reflective of M14 than M10. We're trying to diagnose what is occurring at M10 of late.
Also, we do intend to move the sensor at M10 back to M12 (now that the nav aid there has been reinstalled). But please be patient as our sensor maintenance team has been very busy with sensor maintenance and new installs ... including some new sensors coming this week to the San Francisco Bay! |

| Sailed the river near marker 10 and 12 yesterday (Saturday). The readings and the conditions were pretty accurate. Take a look at the range (gust). That is what was happening. Readings of 20 had ups and downs from 12 to 28. You could see the wide pockets of wind, catch a ride across and then slog back or visa versa. At times the wind was un-sailable then overpowered on a 5.0. Big boards and small sails made it all workable. |

| Just curious why Marker 10 readings are important to some folks out there? I check out Marker 14 and if it is windy and ebbing, I go. |

Yo Rigatoni
Its because a lot of times marker 14 is unsailable because of lack of wind and the access will have 4.7 conditions. Last season the sign did not happen very often but the access was sailable. Although I had to buy a 96 Ltr board to get my sailing days up to 60.
Good to hear that they will be getting on marker 12. The Delta Dawgs at the access need that marker up and running!

Rigatoni,
I use 10 (and would use 12) because I usually sail at 9,10 and farther up at 7,8. The swell is the better down river but you have to pay some dues to get there, which is great because a big day is no more than 3 others.
14 does not work for that area. Often when 10 is going off 14 will be all but dead. 14 only works for The Sign and Powerlines. |
