new to the iWindsurfing community, glad we joined. Thinking about planning a kitesurfing trip with my son to Hatteras. Its been few years... were both new to kitesurfing and thinking June might bring us some wind? Does anyone have any thoughts?

We have been to Hatteras but only in fall or spring. Never June.

Summer kitesurfing in Hatteras is excellent. Though I am not a kitesurfer (wavesailor and light air (SUP) wave sailor only), the winds average upper teens/low twenties near daily due to afternoon thermals and if lucky, you may hit a Bermuda High that time of year. Though winds can get a little strong in that case for new kitesurfers.

All in all though, June kitesurfing in Hatteras is quite good, along with any time during the summer months! Very Happy

Hatteras is super rad for wind, every month but August. Get more local tips here:

My experience with June several years ago was 6.5 days of 80deg air, 80 deg sound water and SW 25-35. The last evening when the wind shut down we couldn't see through the Mosquitos.
